Home Improvement General Contractor Serving Central Ohio
Before you start any project, you’re bound to have a few questions – and a home remodeling project is no different. Here Owens Construction, your local, experienced general contractor, answers some of the frequently asked questions that we receive.
Q: Should I Move or Remodel My Current Residence?
A: This decision will be influenced by many factors, but you should definitely consider the following:
- Can you afford to purchase a bigger house?
- Do you like your neighborhood, neighbors and schools?
- Will a new location be more convenient for your commute?
- Do you generally need more space or more rooms?
All of these questions will influence whether you should move or renovate your current home.
Q: What Does Design/Build Mean?
A: Design/build means that you can have a single contractor manage both the design and construction of your remodel, allowing for a faster, more streamlined process. The design/build company manages all contracts with other companies, such as subcontractors and materials providers.
Q: How Is the Cost of a Job Estimated?
A: The cost of the job varies based on the materials, experience of the crew, labor and overhead. With Owens Construction, once we provide the final construction contract price, the price won’t change without an approved change to the scope of work. Plus, you get the price based on the actual design and not an estimate.
Q: How Do You Protect My Home During a Remodel?
A: Before we ever begin work, Owens Construction will take the time to remove your belongings from the construction area or cover those that can’t be moved. We’ll start with the demolition. Again, we’ll ensure that the demolition area is sealed off from the rest of the house. This way, if you’re still living in your home, you won’t be affected by the dust. Our crews wear protective footwear to ensure that we don’t track debris into other areas.
Throughout the remodel, we’ll only access your house through designated areas and will avoid disrupting your daily routine as much as possible.
